Scientists combine EIT and pneumatic sensing for humanoid robot skin

19 August 2026 at 10:21
Scientists have developed a hybrid robotic skin that combines electrical impedance tomography with pneumatic pressure sensing in an effort to improve force detection across large areas of a humanoid robot, as highlighted byΒ RoboSkin. Described in a preprint published in May 2026, the system uses electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to determine where contact occurs, while four […]

A3 and Mahoning County expand access to free robotics training in Ohio through $500,000 workforce grant

19 August 2026 at 08:55
The Association for Advancing Automation (A3) and the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center (MCCTC) will offer no-cost robotics and automation training across Ohio through a $499,000 workforce grant that will help the state’s residents build skills for increasingly technology-driven careers. Awarded through Ohio’s Individual Microcredential Assistance Program (IMAP), the grant will support approximately 3,000 […]

Rodriguez launches Movotrak β€˜seventh axis’ for cobots

19 August 2026 at 08:44
Rodriguez has introduced a collaborative linear transfer system that can move a cobot between multiple workstations and extend its operating range to as much as 10 metres. The company is offering Thomson’s Movotrak Cobot Transfer Unit (CTU), which it describes as β€œa movable seventh axis” designed to allow a single cobot to perform tasks at […]

FORT Robotics to go public via business combination with Newbury Street II Acquisition Corp

18 August 2026 at 14:29
FORT Robotics, a safety platform developing a β€œtrust layer” for physical AI, and Newbury Street II Acquisition Corp, a special purpose acquisition company, have entered into a definitive business combination agreement that will result in the combined company becoming a publicly traded company. Upon closing of the business combination, the combined company will be named […]

How Industrial Metal Storage Bins Improve Warehouse Organization

13 August 2026 at 18:49
Picture a warehouse floor covered in loose boxes, mismatched containers, and inventory stacked wherever it fits that day. Finding a single part in that environment can eat up an entire shift, and the cost of that lost time rarely shows up on a single line item, even though it drains productivity constantly. The fix is […]

Airworthiness Directives; The Boeing Company Airplanes

The FAA is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2018-11- 14, which applied to certain The Boeing Company Model 767-300 and -300F series airplanes with certain winglets installed. AD 2018-11-14 required high frequency eddy current (HFEC) inspections for cracking of the lower outboard wing skin and repair or modification if necessary. AD 2018-11-14 also required one of three follow-on actions: Repeating the HFEC inspections; modifying certain internal stringers and oversizing and plugging the existing fastener holes of the lower wing; or modifying the external doubler/tripler and doing repetitive post- modification inspections. This AD was prompted by reports of fatigue cracking in the lower outboard wing skin at the inboard fastener of stringer L-9.5, and the lower outboard wing skin of stringer L-6.5, on airplanes with winglets installed per Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST01920SE. This AD was also prompted by a determination that, for certain airplanes, the area of the lower wing skin in the vicinity of the critical inboard end fasteners of installed repair doublers must be inspected. This AD continues to require the actions in AD 2018-11-14, adds to the applicability airplanes that have had STC ST01920SE installed and the STC winglets removed, and, for certain airplanes, requires repetitive internal and external HFEC inspections of the lower outboard wing skin common to the external doubler repair at stringer L- 9.5 and repair if necessary. The FAA is issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.

Special Conditions: ATR-GIE Avions de Transport RΓ©gional Model ATR42-500 and ATR72-212A Airplanes; Electronic System Security Protection From Unauthorized Internal Access

These special conditions are issued for the ATR-GIE Avions de Transport R[eacute]gional (ATR) Model ATR42-500 and ATR72-212A airplanes. These airplanes will have a novel or unusual design feature when compared to the state of technology envisioned in the airworthiness standards for transport-category airplanes. This design feature is the installation of a digital system that contains a wireless and hardwired network with hosted application functionality that allows access, from sources internal to the airplane, to the airplane's internal electronic components. The applicable airworthiness regulations do not contain adequate or appropriate safety standards for this design feature. These special conditions contain the additional safety standards that the Administrator considers necessary to establish a level of safety equivalent to that established by the existing airworthiness standards.

How certified systems integrators reduce commissioning risk in robotic production cells

3 August 2026 at 13:04
Commissioning a robotic production cell requires coordinated testing across robot controls, drives, safety functions, field devices, and plant networks. A robotic cell can run cleanly during a shop demonstration and still lose hours when it reaches the plant. The robot may be ready while a drive uses the wrong parameter set. A sensor can change […]
